Our Story
Beads is a small studio founded by a Singaporean maker living in Japan — born from a love of nature and a quiet wish to hold onto the flowers we cherish.
Where it began
A love of flowers that wouldn't fade
She has always been drawn to the natural world — the curve of a petal, the way light passes through a leaf, the brief perfection of a bloom in season. But flowers are fleeting, and she wanted to make something that could stay.
What started as a personal experiment — a single beaded rose wired at a kitchen table — became a calling: to craft flowers by hand that never wilt, never lose their colour, and carry the same tenderness as the real thing.
Across the ocean
A small studio, a leap of faith
From Singapore to Japan, she followed the stillness she needed to build something slowly and carefully. Beads is not a factory — it is one pair of hands, a bench, glass seed beads, and wire.
Japan's seasons, its gardens, and its respect for patient craft shaped how she works: in small batches, with no shortcuts, honouring both the flower and the person it is made for.
The making
Petals wired one at a time
Every flower is built petal by petal — thousands of tiny glass beads shaped into form, colour-matched by eye, and finished by hand. A single stem can take days; a bouquet, weeks.
This is deliberate, low-volume work. Each piece receives the same care whether it is a single stem for everyday joy or a bespoke bouquet made for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
